Getting around Cairo is very easy by bus, taxi or private cars. However the best means of internal transport in Cairo is metro. The sub way system in Cairo is extremely systematic, frequent and cheap. There are two lines of metro in Cairo. One line runs along the eastern bank of the River Nile from Helwan in north to Al-Marg in the south, via Tahrir. The other line is made recently, from Shubra in the north to Giza in the west, also via Tahrir. Tahrir is the metro station where the two lines intersect. More subway extensions are planned.
There are some taxi drivers in Cairo, who can be the best guides. Hiring a taxi directly from a hotel can be more expensive than catching one in the street. These taxis are black and white and runs on a shared basis.

Internal transportation in Cairo can also be facilitated by renting cars. The minimum age required for hiring a car in Egypt is 25 years and an International Driving Permit document is compulsory. Rates of car hire begin at about EŁ185 per day for unlimited mileage. Getting around Cairo is one of the most cherishing experience if the proper vehicle is chosen to reach the destination fast and at reasonable rates.
