The Cairo Demographic Center is an educational and research institute established in 1963. The prestigious institute is a result of the collaborative effort of the Egyptian government and the United Nations. However, according to a Presidential Decree issued this Center acquired an independent status being sponsored and financed by the Egyptian Government.
The Demographic Center in Cairo is an unique institute engaged in nurturing and preparing a brigade of trained demographic specialists in the developing world. These specialists analyze and evaluate critical population issues of the developing world, in turn helping the policy makers to design and develop appropriate policies. This center also maintains strong relations and co-operates with national, regional and international population organizations. Many foreign students come to study in this institute. General diploma, advanced diploma and M. Phil degrees are awarded to the students.

Different faculties of Cairo Demographic Center teach different subjects, which in turn helps in nurturing an inter disciplinary approach towards population studies. Statistics, computer science, health planning, reproductive health, planning and labor force, economics and mathematic and sociology are taught to the students of this institute.
The research activities of Cairo Demographic Center employ modern statistical methods combined with innovative methodologies and qualitative techniques. Evey year the governing body allocates and approves a section of budget for research purposes. The center has carved a niche for itself for its high standards of research quality.
Cairo Demographic Center is widely known all over the world for its technical assistance to the various international institution and government of other countries, relating to population studies and other critical issues pertaining to population.
