AARHUS

Aarhus is the second largest city in Denmark. Dating back to over 770 AD, the city is the oldest big city in Scandinavia. The city gained independence from Copenhagen and Hamburg in the 19th century. Earlier, it was the third largest city in Jutland and with the increase in population, it became the largest city in Jutland and the second largest in Denmark. Aarhus, which is the seat of the council of both Aarhus municipality and Aarhus County, holds the title "Capital of Jutland". It is also the main port of Denmark.



Area & Location:Lies on the Jutland peninsula, Aarhus is located at 56°09' Latitude North and 10°13' Longitude East. The Aarhus municipality covers a total area of 468 sq. km. It has a population of 295,513 and its urban area is home to 661, 013 of its inhabitants.

Transportation: The city is located at the junction of railway lines that links all parts of the country. Aarhus Airport serves the city. As the city lies on the coast, ferry or boat can be used to reach here. Its railway system connects it with other parts of Europe.
