Cardenas is a city which inhabits people working in the tourism department in Varadero. This destination in Cuba is also known as the ' City of the Crabs '. The narrow streets and the horse-drawn carts seem to have preserved the long heritage of the city. Cardenas is also known as the ' Flag City' .On May 19 th , 1850, the Cuban national flag waved here for the first time on the building of La Dominica hotel.
