The political parties in Zagreb play an important role in deciding the structure of the government. Though there are a number of political parties in Zagreb, the two leading parties are the Croatian People's Party and the Social Democratic Party. Some of the other Zagreb political parties include the Croatian Party of Slavonia and Baranja, Croatian Independent Democrats, Croatian Party of Rights and Croatian Social Liberal Party.
The members of the City Council Assembly unanimously elect the Mayor of Zagreb. At present, Milan Bandic is the Mayor of the place. The symbol of the Coat of Arms of Zagreb represents the administrative independence of the place from Croatia.
The Zagreb government aims at giving the people the best of amenities and it has done a commendable job ever since the county has gained the independent status.
