ZAGREB

Zagreb is the capital city of Croatia. Although there exist interesting tales about the origin and meaning of the word Zagreb, the name is derived from Croatian, which means ditch/depression. It is the largest city in Croatia and the only one metropolitan area, which occupies over one million people. The city is the seat of central state administrative bodies and almost all government ministries. Majority of Zagreb's economy come from its various industries. Zagreb is the home for the University of Zagreb. It is officially twinned with many town and cities in Germany, Russia, Norway, Japan, Poland, Portugal, USA, China, Romania, Hungary, Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Slovenia and Montenegro.
