Palmira at Colombia came into existence in the year 1688. The residents of this Colombian city are addressed by the name of 'Palmirenos' or 'Palmiranos'. Bishop Orlando Antonio Corrales Garcia is serving as the bishop of the city. He was renamed as the Archbishop of Santa Fe de Antioquia in the beginning of the year 2007. It was Pope Benedict XVI who had renamed him.
The most crucial agricultural products of this city are tobacco, sugarcane, rice and coffee. Palmira had inaugurated its maiden shopping mall known as 'Centro Comercial Llanogrande Plaza', which is truly huge in size. This mall, however, gained fame by the name of 'La Catorce'.
Palmira is also home to the Cali International Airport that is renowned by the name of Alfonso Bonilla Aragon International Airport. The Agrogamy School of the Universidad Nacional de Colombia is also present in this city.
