Manizales

Situated near the Nevado del Ruiz volcano, the Colombian city of Manizales serves as the functional capital of the department of Caldas. As a matter of fact, Manizales forms a significant portion of the so-called Coffee-growers Axis in Colombia.
Since, this Colombian city is established in the mountainous region and consists of a few slopes that are very steep, it has been described to possess "abrupt topography". There had been some significant seismic activities in this area as well.

In spite of the extremely rough topography of Manizales in Colombia, a large number of coffee plantations are found in this region. The altitude at which this Colombian city is located is measured at 2153 meters. Founded on the 12th day of the month of October in the year 1849, Manizales of Colombia was predominated by the Spanish people until individuals belonging to other ethnic groups started to migrate there. It was a group of twenty Antioquians, hailing from Salamina and Neira, who had laid the foundation stone of this city.

The residents of Manizales at Colombia are constantly threatened by the natural calamities like earthquakes, volcanic eruptions and slides. Despite this fact, they indulge themselves in a lot of cultural events that are held at the International Theater Festival.
