The Caqueta Department falls within the Amazon region in the southern fringe of Colombia. The area covered by the Caqueta Department is approximately 88, 965 square kilometers. This area makes it the 3rd largest department in the Latin American country of Colombia. Florencia at Colombia was established by the Capuchin Friar Doroteo De Pupiales on the 25th day of the month of December in the year 1902. Capuchin Friar Doroteo De Pupiales was born in the year 1876 in the place known as Pupiales in Narino. He took his last breath in the year 1959.
The city of Florencia of Colombia is located at a stone's throw from the Cordillera Oriental Mountain Range. The regions that surround the Colombian city of Florencia in the east are the municipalities named as La Montanita and El Paujil. However, it is flanked by the Huila department in the north. The southern neighbors of Florencia are the municipalities of Morelia and Milan. Whereas the western facet of this Colombian city, is bounded by the Belen de Andaquies municipality.
