Shan Pui River


The Shan Pui River flows through the area of Hong Kong city known as Yuen Long located in New Territories. This river is also known as the Yuen Long Creek. It came into the limelight when a female crocodile was found here in 2003 near Nam Sang Wai. It was later on named as Pui Pui.

The Shan Pui River of Hong Kong has got a number of tributaries. A large number of the tributaries of this river begin their journey from Tai Lam Country Park. The river of Shan Pui traverses through a number of villages whereby it is connected by small streams.
The Shan Pui River, after its journey through the beautiful town of Yuen Long, makes its route towards the Yuen Long Industrial Estate and Nam Sang Wai situated in the north-eastern part of the city of Hong Kong. At this portion of its journey, the Shan Pui meets the river of Kam Tin. At last, it ends its journey at the Deep Bay after flowing through the Mai Po Nature Reserve.

There are also facilities for boating on this river. The tourists visiting Hong Kong should try their hands on the boat trip in the river to have a memorable experience.
