Hong Kong Sevens is one of the most important events in the sports calendar of Hong Kong city. It is a major competition of rugby union in the province and is a part of the IRB Sevens World Series. The tournament is organized by the Hong Kong Rugby Football Union. The Hong Kong Sevens is an annual event, which is held every year in the month of March. It starts on the last Friday of month and lasts till Sunday evening. It has been held regularly, except in the years 1997 and 2005.
This rugby tournament in Hong Kong was established in the year 1976. The tournament seems to be a major place for the young players for developing their rugby skills.
As many as 24 teams from 22 countries participate in this annual rugby tournament.

The Hong Kong Stadium, with a capacity of accommodating 40,000 people, has been holding the Rugby Sevens tournament in Hong Kong since 1994.
