Hong Kong Railway Museum located in Tai Po provides the visitors with the chance of experiencing the history of railways and its development in Hong Kong. The museum was built by the Leisure and Cultural Service Department of the Government of Hong Kong at the location of the erstwhile Old Tai Po Market Railway Station. The station was declared at a heritage site after being out of service for a long time. This station became the home to the Hong Kong Railway Museum, one of the major tourist destinations of Hong Kong.
The building of the Hong Kong Railway Museum, resembling the architecture of Chinese style, houses a large variety of exhibits. These reveal the history of the railways in Hong Kong in front of the visitors. Some of the major exhibits of the Railway Museum in Hong Kong are listed below:

The Hong Kong Railway Museum can be easily accessed from different parts of the city via Kowloon-Canton Railway. From the Tai Po Market Station, one has to take the Mini Bus no.25K to reach the museum. The museum can also be reached by Kowloon Motor Bus nos. 72, 72X, 73X, 74X, 75X and 271. The Hong Kong Railway Museum remains open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The museum remains closed on Tuesdays. No admission fee is required to visit the museum.
