The Quarry Bay is known as the Tsak Yue Chung in Chinese that suggests that it was earlier a small stream where crucian carp were found. Originally, the river took its course into the bay. But as the Tai Koo Reservoir was built, the river lost its connection with sea.
The Quarry Bay of Hong Kong is located in the eastern district of Hong Kong Island. Some of the interesting destinations in Quarry Bay are:

Besides, there are a large number of offices and other residential buildings in this area. Taikoo Shing, one of the important housing estates of Hong Kong Island, is located close to the bay. The original bay, that is non-existent now, is at a distance of 700 meters from the present coastline.
The upper course of Quarry Bay River was transformed into a catchwater paved with cement. On the other hand, the lower course became the Quarry Bay Street. There are a number of good schools and colleges in the area. One can easily reach the Quarry Bay area within 15 minutes from Central.
