As per 2007 report, Hong Kong Population is 6,980,412. The growth rate of the population of Hong Kong is 0.561%. Chinese is the official language of the people. About 89.2% of the total Hong Kong population speaks in Chinese. The rest speak in English (3.2%) and other languages (1.2%).

Birth rate in the Hong Kong city is 7.34 births per 1,000 people and the death rate is 6.45 deaths per 1,000 people. The sex ratio is 0.956 male(s) per female. The literacy rate of the people in Hong Kong records that about 96.9% male and 9.6% female are literate
(2002 report). Out of the total population, about 13% (male and female) belong to the age group from 0 to 14 years, 74% (male and female) to the group of 15 to 64 years and 12.9% (male and female) of the population consists of people of 64 years and above.

People of Hong Kong are known as Chinese or Hong Konger. The ethnic groups, which constitute the population of Hong Kong, are Chinese (94.9%), Filipino (2.1%) and others (3%) according to the 2001 report. The Christians accounts for about 10% of the total population in Hong Kong. It is known as one of the most thickly populated areas of the world.
