About 94.9% of the Hong Kong People belong to Chinese communities. People of Hong Kong are known as Hong Konger or Chinese. About 10% of the people living in Hong Kong are Christians. Cantonese is the official language of the people of Hong Kong. English is also spoken by many.

According to the law of the land, children falling in the age group of 6 to 15 must receive education. The literacy rate is as high as 93.5%. Hong Kong people are entitled to vote after attaining the age of 18 years. They are bound by the legal system based on English common law.
