No country belonging to the EU, along with Australia, Japan and Canada, needs a visa to stay in Santiago for a period of 90 days. Greek nationals are provided this facility for 60 days. The nationals of most South American nations along with many African, Scandinavian and Asian countries also enjoy the same facility for up to 90 days. Citizens of Peru are allowed to stay in Santiago for up to 60 days.
A period of visa-free stay in Santiago is extended for the citizens of Costa Rica, Honduras, Indonesia, Singapore and Zimbabwe. However, all visitors are supposed to pay an entrance fee to arrive in Santiago, the rates of which vary from one country to another.
Visa to Santiago must be obtained by the visitors from all other countries, whether they reach Santiago as a tourist, a professional or as a student. The basic requirements for tourist visas to Santiago are as follows:
- Valid Passport
- Evidence of sufficient funds to cover the expenses during their stay in Chile
- Return ticket or onward ticket, in case Santiago is used as a transit
- The Fee required for visa processing.
