Santiago buses have a fair frequency and are an integral part of Santiago travel infrastructure. Buses of the city provides excellent mass transit intra-city services. Santiago buses are also called “micros” which are of yellow color. In the city of Santiago, there has been a recent change in the bus transportation system. According to the new system, the passengers should carry a BIP card to board the buses. The BIP cards for Santiago buses are available at various places of the city and also at metro stations.
Bus service in Santiago is run by private bodies. The different routes of the city are identified by the two boroughs displayed above the windshield of the buses. Alameda is the preferred bus terminal, situated in downtown Santiago.

There are also metrobuses in Santiago which are less frequent. These buses ply from boroughs to metro stations and are not expensive like the microbuses.
The metrobuses do not avail the subways. There are other Santiago buses that offer services from the airport to the other parts of the city and have their offices at the air terminals.
