Santiago Airport is Chile's biggest civil airport. The airport is also known as Pudahuel Airport.
The formal name of this air terminal of the city is Comodoro Arturo Merino Benitez International Airport.
Santiago Airport started functioning in 1967. Initially, the airport was referred to as the "Pudahuel International Airport". Pudahuel was subsequently changed to Arturo Merino Benitez. Benitez was credited with creating the Chilean Air Force. The airport went through substantial modernization phase in the 1990s.
