Ottawa weather is influenced by the continental type of climate. Weather of Ottawa experiences great differences and variations between the summer and winter temperatures. In summer the Fahrenheit reaches almost 100 degrees. In winter, on the other hand, the temperatures fall below freezing point to almost -38o Fahrenheit. are also common during the winter months.

Ottawa experiences four distinct seasons. Spring in Ottawa lasts from March to May. Summer falls from June to September. Fall or autumn comes in September and lasts till November. The harsh winter months are from December to March. The effect of snow, however, lasts till middle of April. Humidity is present all the year round in Ottawa.

The best time for tourists to come to Ottawa is in spring or autumn. Autumn is the time when one can see the fall colors when trees shed their leaves for the onset of winter months. Summer season should be avoided because this is the time when tornadoes, floods and heat waves affect the weather of Ottawa.
