Thomas D'Arcy McGee Building

Located at 90 Sparks Street, the Thomas D'Arcy McGee Building is an office tower in Ottawa. Founded in 1981, it is the home to several government offices of Canada. In 2001, the building
was bought by the federal government of Canada. It is one of the unique modern structures of Ottawa featuring a number of offices and shopping malls.

The major portions of the building were previously owned by the Royal Bank Centre of Canada and the building was known as the Royal Bank Centre. But once this building was bought by the federal government of Canada, it was renamed as Thomas D'Arcy McGee Building. Although, the building has been renamed, it still continues to be the headquarters of the Royal Bank Centre and the building also has the logo of the bank.

The complex was named after the Father of Confederation, Thomas D'Arcy McGee who was assassinated near the complex in the year 1868. Thomas D'Arcy McGee was a Canadian journalist who had many schools named after him. The building is thirteen storeys high with its two bottom floors containing a shopping mall. This unique structure is very unusual in the city and serves as the main center for the Canadian politicians.
