Initially, it was known as the College of Bytown and later on became the Saint Paul University in 1965 after it was made an institution exclusively meant for the Catholic students. The University of Ottawa which was a part of the College of Bytown maintained its secular nature and now exists as one of the oldest Canadian universities. Both these universities confer degrees to the students jointly. The Saint Paul University attracts a number of international students each year. The library of the institution boasts of being the biggest religious research library in Canada. The Saint Paul University of Ottawa offers a wide variety of courses to the students which include:
