Place Bell

Built in 1971, the Place Bell is one of the famous skyscrapers of Ottawa. Located in the city centre, the Place Bell is a twenty seven storey building serving as the main
center of Bell Canada (Telecommunication Company). The complex features a number of commercial buildings. The large complex has a total of twenty seven floors covering an area of 85, 004 square meters. Situated on the Elgin Street of Ottawa, this high-rise features a number of shopping centers, offices and a parking lot. The garage at the backside of the building has been shut down for many years.

Initially, a larger area was proposed for the construction of the Place Bell. A large area of the north block was proposed for the complex. As several heritage buildings were to be demolished for implementing the plan, it was not carried out. The Bell Canada is the biggest tenant of the Place Bell complex but in the year 1998, the building was sold to TrizecHahn. Later on, in the year 2002, the complex was again purchased by the HR Real Estate Investment Trust.
