Ottawa was previously inhabited by Algonquin. They called the Ottawa River the "Kichesippi" or the Great River. Philemon Wright was the first European to settle here. Later the French fur traders came to Ottawa. It also came under British rule in 1759. United State also claimed the land after the British left. After gaining freedom from USA, Ottawa was made the capital of Canada.
Ottawa has got a rich culture. There are a number of museums and theaters. People are friendly and hospitable. You can taste mouthwatering local dishes in the restaurants. You can also enjoy ballet, symphony as well as orchestra shows.
