Ottawa is a bilingual city having a large number of English and French speaking people. The other important languages spoken widely in the city are Chinese, Spanish, Italian, German and others. Christianity is the main religion of the various ethnic groups in Ottawa. The Roman Catholicism, Protestantism and Christian Orthodox groups are the main Christian denominations of Ottawa.
There are many ethnic groups in Ottawa practicing Islam, Buddhism and Judaism. Though these religions are not practiced widely in the city but a certain percentage of population does follow Islam, Buddhism and other religions. The Canadians are the main ethnic groups of Ottawa. The French ethnic group of Ottawa comprises around 25.89 percent while the Irish comes around 17.24 percent. The Scottish people occupy 14.48 percent of the total population of Ottawa. The city is home to several ethnic groups among which the French and the English form the majority.
