Ottawa Courthouse is a sprawling building spread across a huge campus. The building is nine storeys high and it is shaped in the form of a semi-circle. The length of the building is more than its height. The exterior of the Ottawa Courthouse is made of white glazed tiles. The front face of each storey is covered with wall-to-wall glass. The overall architecture of the Ottawa Courthouse is very chic and modern. The compound is beautifully decorated. There is a lush lawn in front of the building lined with trees.
The beautiful Ottawa Courthouse building graces the point where Elgin Street meets Laurier Avenue. The Courthouse in Ottawa was inaugurated in the year 1986 and since then it has been serving as the venue for hearing of legal cases ranging from criminal offences to family disputes. The base of the building acts as a lock-up for prisoners and felons. The middle storeys contain the court rooms whereas the top storeys are reserved as the offices of judges and lawyers. The building also houses the Ottawa branch of the Ontario Superior Court of Justice.
