In 1927, the foundation stone of the building was laid by Canada's Governor General. Considered to be a part of the Parliament Hill of Ottawa, the Confederation Building of Ottawa is the main office of the members of parliament. The Treasury Board Secretariat and the Finance Department of Canada has taken over the building from agricultural department of Canada. The unique architecture of the building draws a number of tourists in Ottawa.
The Confederation Building in Ottawa will be given a completely new look in 2008. In order to increase the office area, the space between the Justice Building and the Confederation Building will be filled. The Supreme Court of Canada also lies very near to the building. Over time, Confederation Building, Ottawa has gained immense popularity due to its unique gothic architecture.
