The history of Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario dates back to the late 1960's and early 1970's when some local medical professionals, community professionals and elected representatives decided to set up a child care hospital for western Quebec and eastern Ontario region. In April 1966, the government of Ontario passed the proposal for establishing the hospital. Many fundraising parties, fashion shows and other shows were organized to collect money for establishing the institution. The Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario was finally officially inaugurated on 17 May, 1974. Since then many new developments have taken place in the institute and in the year 2003, the institute celebrated its 20th anniversary.
