The fortress was then again reconstructed in the 13-14th century. The rocks that are scattered near the fortress are ideal for mountaineering.

Some preserved remnants of the fortress was discovered along "Primorski" Blvd across from the Aquarium, which is on the "Mihail Koloni" Street, close to the "St Nicholas"

church. It was located very close to "Happy", a popular restaurant in Varna, which is next to the Navy headquarters and it continues all along the coastline.
The Fortress of Varna is among the most famous historical sites of Bulgaria. It is considered that the weapon turrets were located on the top of the fortress and there was a corridor where the soldiers could walk. The turrets were either quadrangular or hexagonal in form. The quadrangular turrets were less in number and were constructed on certain strategic locations. They were built higher and slightly forward. The hexagonal turrets were built around the gates of the fortress of Varna.
