Soccer is one of the most important Varna – Sports The two important Varna sporting clubs that have competed in some of the professional leagues and championships are the Cherno More and the Spartak. The Cherno More was founded in the year 1913 and the Spartak was founded in 1918. The latter is a one time champion in the field of soccer and has represented the country in the UEFA Cup in 1983.

Recently, in the month of February, 2007, Varna sports got a new dimension with the inauguration of a new Varna sports arena, built with the guidelines of UEFA/FIFA. One of the largest arena in Varna is the Palace of Sports which is host to national and international basketball and volleyball tournaments.
Auto racing and motorcross constitute some of the other Varna activities. With a total of 18 golf courses, Varna has proved to be an important golfing destination too.
