The music of Varna is not only famous in Bulgaria, but known worldwide for its uniqueness. There are numerous musical academies and institutes in Varna. Popular musicians like Yfrah Neaman, Rosa Fain, Vera Gornostaeva, Germaine Mounier and many more belong to Varna.
On 23 July 1926, Varna open-air theater first brought about the first Varna music celebrations. The beginning of this music celebration is credited to Gercho Gerchev, Vasil Savrev, Ivan Kamburov, Nayden Naydenov and Yordan Todorov. The great composers like Dobri Hristov, Pancho Vladigerov and many more have made the Varna music a part of international glory.
The Varna Summer International Music Festival is the oldest in Bulgaria and thousands of music patrons gather at this pompous celebration. This is almost 80 years old custom of Varna. This festival restores the longest tradition in European continent. It is held every

year in June-July, when the warm summer prevails and the passion of classical music is enjoyed amidst the internationally renowned singers, composers and percussionists. The varied generations participate in opera, symphony concerts and choral music.
The International Summer Academy of Varna is a special work shop held annually within the Varna Summer International Music Festival ever since 1984. This academy was started by Prof. Mintcho Mintchev. This laboratory helps the young talents through the process of open discussions with renowned musicians and educators. Boris Bloch, Karl Osterreicher, Janos Starker, Robert Cohen, Andras Adorjan and many more Varna musicians have bestowed musical classes in this academy. The music of Varna have gained more prominence internationally because of the concerts and festivals held here every year attracting thousands of people, who are passionate about classical music.
