The International Pop Festival Varna started in 1992, and it celebrated its 15th anniversary in 19 - 21st May, 2006. This festival is more popularly known as the Discovery International Pop Music Festival or only Discovery. This event is held every year during the summer season.
The International Pop Festival of Varna is the only international pop competition held in this country presently. Talented singers and music composers gather from 42 countries and perform, enchanting their audience. The most harmonious collection of melodies reflecting the world's cultural variety can be experienced in this music festival. The festival houses many additional events like exhibitions, promotional performances of new music albums, theatrical performances, seminars on music etc.

The Pop Festival of Varna influences the cultural development of the country. Moreover the national and international mass have always applauded this festival since the past 15 years. This pop institution allows all the amateurs to come up and perform their best at the festival. The Discovery Festival carries a good record of great music from all over the world. This show is aired to other countries by satellite channels, all its editions are collected in the CD archives.
Contemporary youth music gets a proper platform in this festival. The International Pop Festival Varna is organized by the Discovery Foundation. The Municipality of Varna is the supporting body. The National Center of Music and Dance (NCMT) of the Bulgarian Ministry of Culture supervises the planning and programming of the festival.
