Ever since 1991, the International Folk Festival in Varna is a popular event in Varna. This festival is well known all across the world. The 16th International Folk Festival was held from 5 to 9 August, 2007 in the city of Varna, Bulgaria.
This festival mainly culminates the innovation of dance and folk music. Dance groups for traditional and modern folklore apply for two categories. They are Youth Ensembles over 15 years old and Adults’ Ensembles. The participants have to send a letter to the authorities arranging the Festival at least 8 months before the event takes place. A performance of the troupe ( in form of .jpeg 1000-3000 pix or CD, DVD video tape) should also be sent along with the letter. The performance should not last for more than 15 minutes. candidatures of those performing groups who have sent their materials in due time.
The number of participants in one group do not exceed 35 persons. The schedule of International Folk Festival in Varna starts with the opening ceremony (up to 6 minutes), fragment performances ( for 3 - 5 minutes), block performances ( for maximum 20 minutes) and block performance ( for 30-45 minutes) and finally the closing ceremony.
The International Folk Festival of Varna is supervised by the Culture Department of Varna. Among the Folk Festivals of Bulgaria, this Varna folk Festival is globally famous and all artists gather from various parts of the world to prove their excellence. The International Folk Festival in Varna also forms a major event of entertainment for the tourists for a span of days.
