Varna Archaeological Museum is not only a museum but it represents the rich history of the city in Bulgaria. As one of the largest museum in Bulgaria, Varna Archaeological Museum is considered as the most prominent tourist attractions in Varna. Built in-between 1892 to 1898 the building was originally constructed as a Girl’s High School. The building is divided into two floors and a basement area.
History of Varna Archaeological Museum
The inauguration of the museum was mostly initiated by the two Czech brothers known as Herman and Karel Skorpil. Along with several well-known social figures and teachers, the two brothers developed a society that would takeover all the responsibilities of the museum.

The museum held its first exhibition on 11th June, 1906.
Displays at Varna Archaeological Museum
The museum consists of several galleries, a library, storerooms and an Educational Children’s Museum. The wide variety of display at the Varna Museum of Archeology includes objects like coins, jewelries, icons, cult item and weapons and so on. All these archeological items are from the Early Paleolithic Age, Eneolithic Age, Halcolitic Age, Bronze Age and Iron Age.
The Varna Archaeological Museum was declared as a property of the state in 1945 and since then it has been popular not only among the tourists, but has become a major source of historical information about the region.
