Vitosha is one of the urban municipalities located in the city of Sofia. It is located at the base of the Vitosha Mountains. The municipality of Vitosha is present in the southern regions of Sofia in Bulgaria. As per the census of the year 2006, the population recorded in Vitosha municipality was 42,953. The place is surrounded by various regions, which are:

The National Historical Museum is one of the most important tourist destinations in the municipality of Vitosha. In the museum, there is a large collection of antiques dating back to the prehistoric times. Some of the priceless articles preserved at the museum include the Thracian Treasures, ancient manuscripts and some of the finest church plates. The National Historical Museum has been listed as one of the hundred tourist sites of Bulgaria.
