Shopping in Sofia is a delightful experience. The city has a number of shopping areas catering to every conceivable need. The principal Sofia shopping area is concentrated in the central part of the Bulgarian capital city.
The main areas of shopping in Sofia are located on Graf Ignatiev Street, Rakovski Street and Vitosha Boulevard. The Central Department Store or (TsUM) is a shopping mall spanning over three floors. Prospective shoppers may visit the cluster of stores located around Oborishte, San Stefano and Shipka Street. Gift and souvenir shops are found around the Alexander Nevski Cathedral. Shoppers will get handmade toys, Russian dolls, jewelries, table cloths with embroideries, wooden items, ceramics and so on.

Bulgarian wine is also a part of the souvenirs and gift items. Bulgarian wine and carpets are a favorite buys among tourists in Sofia.
Shipka Street, Oborishte and San Stefano are some of the shopping areas, where many boutiques, furniture and other small private shops are located. For books and craft items, customers may visit the Slaveikov Square and the Bulgarian Union of Artists respectively.
On weekdays the shops are open from 10 am to 7pm and 9 am to 6 pm. However on Saturdays the shops are opened till 1pm. These shops accept payment in cash while there are few shops, which have presently started accepting credit cards. Shopping in Sofia also allows the travelers to check the prices of the goods if they are not satisfied with the prices charged upon the goods.
