In Sofia, rivers, which are main source of water, are Vladaya River, Perlovksa River and Iskar River. The river of Vladaya is a tributary of Iskar River.
Vladaya River flows through the western part of Bulgaria. Its course starts from the northwestern slopes of Cherni Vrah, which is the highest peak of the Vitosha Mountain. The name of Vladaya River has been taken from the Vladaya village. This river flows by a number of important locations like the Torfeno Branishte Nature Reserve, Sofia Valley and the city of Sofia. It enters the valley of Sofia through the Vladaya Gorge. The river ultimately joins the Iskar River in the northeastern part.

Cherni Iskar, Levi Iskar and Beli Iskar. The river has a length of about 368 kilometers. It flows into the Iskar Reservoir after flowing through the northern slopes of Rila. Finally, this river flows into Danube very near to the Gigen village located in the province of Pleven. The 6 provinces, by which this river flows, are the Vratsa Province, Lovech Province, Sofia Province, Pernik Province, Pleven Province and the city of Sofia. This river is also the major source of water for Sofiyskavoda, which is a water and sewerage company located in Sofia.
Perlovksa River flows through the western part of Bulgaria. It starts of its journey from the mountain of Vitosha. The river covers a length of approximately 17.8 kilometers. This river ultimately flows into the river of Iskar.
