Lozenets


Lozenets is a municipality in the southern regions of the Bulgarian capital Sofia. According to the 2006 census, approximately 45,630 people inhabited the municipality of Lozenets. The municipality is characterized by a number of residential buildings, cultural centers and educational institutions. The municipality of Lozenets at Sofia has 3 chitalishta (libraries) and 13 schools.

Lozenets has a number of new constructions that exist with older apartment blocks. The apartment blocks were built during Communist rule. The Lozenets municipality of Sofia is presently undergoing a phase of urban regeneration with more new civil structures coming up. Lozenets in Sofia is also famous for its health-care infrastructure, since it possesses the
distinction of having the largest hospital in the Eastern Europe. Lozenets is served by 1100 extremely qualified medical practitioners and three clinics.
