Sao Paulo – Butanta Institute is a biomedical institute, which is affiliated to the Sao Paulo State Secretary of Health. The Sao Paulo – Butanta Institute is situated adjacent to the University of Sao Paulo. The Instituto Butantan or the Sao Paulo – Butanta Institute is constructed in accordance with the Pasteur Institute and was founded by the famous physician and scientist of Brazil, Dr. Vital Brazil, in the year 1901.
Some of the major functions of the Sao Paulo – Butanta Institute include the production of the vaccines against some of the deadliest diseases in the land, like, hepatitis, botulism, rabies, diphtheria, tetanus, tuberculosis and pertussis.
