Area & Location: Located in the Sarajevo valley of Bosnia proper, surrounded by the Dinaric Alps and situated around the Miljacka River, the city lies close to the center of the triangular Bosnia and Herzegovina in southeastern Europe. Situated at 43º52'0? Latitude North and 18º25'0? Longitude East, Sarajevo covers 142 sq. km. It sits 500m above sea level. The city has a population of 308,558.
