The Gomel Local Government looks after the problems of the residents. The government is run by a chairman and a number of deputy chairmans, elected for a period of four years. The government was formed according to the Constitution of the Republic of Belarus and looks after the problems of the local people relating to national and international issues.
Local Administration
The members of the local administration are elected by the people through adult franchise. To know about Gomel Local Administration we need to know about the electoral process and hoe it functions. The chairman is the head of the local administration and deputy chairmans are liable to him. However the local government is composed of 36 deputies. The Gomel Local Government has five permanent commissions in order to function properly.

The commissions look after the budget, finance, taxes, agricultural issues, credentials and local self government issues, legal issues and interaction with the public organizations and last but not the least social issues.
