Gomel Language



Gomel Language has been influenced heavily by its complicated history. Invasion by the different foreign countries has resulted in two forms of different written languages.
Belarusian is the main language of Gomel people and this language is related to Ukrainian and Russian. People living in the western part of Belarus prefer the Lacinka form of writing. For having accented characters needed for Lancinka writing "Central European" font is chosen by the Belarusians on the computer. Transliterated Belarusian language in Gomel is used without accented characters and is widely found in e-mail and on Internet listservs etc. Cyrillic forms of written language is also used in some parts.

The Belarusian language of Gomel was changed a bit during the Soviet Era in 1993.

Modern literary Belarusian can be found in the dialects of central Belarus. The official beginning of the Belarus language in Gomel belongs to the period of the Great Dutchy of the Lithuania. In the early 20th century many publications of Gomel city were written in Latin and Cyrillic alphabets .After the Soviet invasion in 1920 Cyrillic alphabet is also used in the official writing. But in some parts of Gomel Latin and Cyrillic alphabets are also used.

Gomel language is steadily becoming famous throughout the world.
