Some of the nearby cities and towns of Gomel are Krasnoye (3.0 nm) on the West, Yakubovka (2.4 nm) and Volovo (2.4 nm) on the East. To the North of the city lies Bardiny (2.8 nm) and Prudok (2.8 nm) and to its South is located Leshchinets (1.9 nm), Khutor (4.5 nm) and Novobelitsa (3.1 nm).

In Gomel, rouble is the currency that is used. The city is very well connected to other cities of Belarus. There is an international airport in the city that connects it to the major cities of the world.
