International contest "Music of hope" is one of the important events of Gomel that is celebrated in the month of December. The students of music schools from various countries like Moldavia, Belarus, Russia and Ukraine take part in this musical contest. The personnel of the Ministry of Culture, the administration of Culture of Gomel Region and also the administration of educational establishments organize this event.
Another popular event of Gomel is the Jeep-Trial Open Cup of the National Olympic Committee of RB (2d stage). It is organized in the month of July by the Off-road competition Committee. In this competition the teams from the whole country of Belarus participate.
International Festival of Choral Arts "Sozhskiy khorovod" is an event in Gomel, celebrated in the month of September. Choral teams from the different parts of the country and abroad take part in the festival. The festival is organized by the Administration of Culture and arts and crafts Establishments of the Ministry of Culture and Administration of Culture of Gomel Region Executive Committee
These events are both cultural and social and influence the life of the people of Gomel.
