Gomel administration is the regional body, which is mainly the local government of Gomel. The governed is run by deputies who are elected by the citizens by the principle of adult franchise as stated by the Constitution of the Republic of Belarus. The Gomel local government looks after the local administration addressing local issues of national and international issues. The elected members serve a period of four years.
Gomel administration falls under the executive. The local administration is headed by a chairman and he is assisted by several deputy chairmans. The chairman looks after all the issues, while the deputy chairmans are alloted different departments to look after the problems of the people residing in those places.
The Chairman of the Gomel administration looks after the matters in the field of personnel and defense,

culture and financial institutions, state security and law enforcement bodies, civil defense issues and justice and customs agencies.
The chairman is assisted by the first deputy chairman who looks after problems faced by the agricultural industry, land resources, cartography and so on. The economy and industry, communication, petrochemical industry and so on are looked after by the second deputy chairman.
Another deputy chairman looks after the trade, forestry, information technology, transport, catering issues, labor protection, issues related to customs agencies and so on. The construction, emergency situations, natural resources, capital investments and so on.
Gomel administration has been looking after the issues of local people since its inception according to the Constitution of Belarus.
