Mass Transit: The public transportation network in Sydney Australia consists of trains, buses, and ferries. The trains in Sydney are operated by the government body known as CityRail. These rails run from early morning till midnight. There is a privately-operated rail line also, called the Metro Light Rail, which is an efficient way of traveling for tourists. The trams of this rail line run 24 hours a day, with service every five to ten minutes. Sydney also has a monorail, which runs between the city center and Darling Harbour. Also known as Sydney Airport, SYD is situated just 9 km to the south of Sydney. Sydney Airport handles both domestic and international flights. Almost all major airlines fly to this airport.

Taxis: Taxis are a convenient and efficient means of travel in Sydney. You can hail a cab on the streets of Sydney or find one at one of the many taxi ranks found outside the airport, hotels, railway stations, etc. The fare is charged as displayed on the meter. However, the taxis charge two rates - one day rate and one night rate. The starting rate for the taxis is $2.75 with $1.56 every kilometer thereafter. A 20 percent extra is added to the night rate. Tipping is not a prevalent custom in Australia.
