Sydney Strand Arcade


Sydney Strand Arcade is a unique shopping center that retains its charm since the Victorian age. This beautiful arcade was constructed sometime during the 1880 and 1900. Strand Arcade, Sydney was opened to the public in the year 1892. This is the fifth and last arcade built during the Victorian era.

During the construction of the Strand Arcade, it was known by the name of Arcade Street and also City Arcade. The Burlington Arcade in London greatly influenced the construction of the Strand Arcade in Sydney. The Sydney's Strand Arcade got its name in 1981, from the famous street in London. This street is a popular center for shopping, theater and hotels and connects London with Westminster.

This architectural landmark of Sydney has several unique features. On the ground floor of the building, shoppers can find antiques, various gift items, Australian and fashion garments for men. It also includes Strand Hatters for Akubra hats, Coffee shop, Jurlique Salon and a Sydney Vintage Watch shop. The traditional coffee shop called Coffee Philosophy serves its customers since 1892. The authentic coffee machine known as Bezzera is used in the making of coffee in this cafe.

Going with the latest trends and fashions, second level of the Sydney Strand Arcade comprise of beauty parlors for both men and women, fashionable shoe stores, clothing, designer jewelries and many more.
