Sydney Dawes Point is also popular for the observatory that has been set up by a naval officer named William Dawes in the year 1788. A battery has also been constructed here. The site for the battery of Dawes Point is marked by the cannons of 1843 and 1844. One can visit the Dawes Point Park all throughout the year. This park is maintained by Sydney Harbor Foreshore Authority. At one point of time, the bay located between Millers Point and Dawes Point, used to be an important center for anchorage of sailing ships.
While visiting Sydney Dawes Point, tourists can indulge themselves in shopping. A number of tourist centers are also under development in Dawes Point in Sydney. For the recreation of the local people as well as the tourists, several theaters are under construction.
