The first television broadcasting in Australia dates back to September 16, 1956. This was the time when only Nine Network was aired. It was on the occasion of launch of the VHF7 on December 2nd, 1956, that Channel 7 was aired for the first time. The television comprises a very important wing of the media in Australia. The Commercial Channels in Sydney

The Seven Network: This is about the only competitor of Nine Network. In the recent years it has twice beat its competitor in terms of viewer rating, once in 2002 and again in 2007. It is also known by the name of Channel 7.
The Nine Network: Also, known by the name of Channel Nine, this is the first commercial channel of Australia, which went on air from the 16th of September 1956. The audience rating of this channel has topped the charts for fifty years with the exceptions of two years. It has rightly chosen its lead slogan as 'Still the One'.
The Network Ten: This channel airs some of the most internationally popular programs such as the Oprah Winfrey Show, the Bold and the Beautiful, the Simpsons and the likes.
