Sydney newspapers play an important role in bringing the news of Sydney of Australia and beyond to the residents of the city of Sydney. There are daily newspapers as well as certain weekly and monthly publications, along with community journals. The leading dailies of Sydney include the Daily Telegraph and The Morning Herald. Both these newspapers bring out their special Sunday editions, The Sunday Telegraph and The Sun Herald. The Leading Sydney Dailies
The Daily Telegraph: The Daily Telegraph has to its credit the maximum number of readers in Sydney. It is a tabloid newspaper. Originally, the name of this newspaper was The Tele and it was founded in 1879. It had a sister edition, the Daily Mirror. The two merged in 1990 to form the Daily Telegraph Mirror. Later the name was changed to The Daily Telegraph.
The Morning Herald: The Morning Herald is the oldest surviving newspaper. It was born when The Sydney Gazette became a daily newspaper. The original name was The Herald. In 1841, the present name was adopted.
Sydney newspapers have come a long way and have now opened up to reader blogging as a measure for increasing popularity.
