Some of the important newspapers of Sydney, which have now become non functional include:
|
The Daily Telegraph: The Daily Telegraph has to its credit the maximum number of readers in Sydney. It is a tabloid newspaper. Originally, the name of this newspaper was The Tele and it was founded in 1879. It had a sister edition, the Daily Mirror. The two merged in 1990 to form the Daily Telegraph Mirror. Later the name was changed to The Daily Telegraph.
The Morning Herald: The Morning Herald is the oldest surviving newspaper. It was born when The Sydney Gazette became a daily newspaper. The original name was The Herald. In 1841, the present name was adopted.
Sydney newspapers have come a long way and have now opened up to reader blogging as a measure for increasing popularity.
