Sydney Holidays include certain festivals and a couple of National Holidays of Australia. The number of national holidays in Sydney as well as in entire Australia is comparatively lesser than in other countries. Australia follows no state religion but as most of the Australian residents are Christians, the major Christian festivals are declared holidays.

The Australia Day, celebrated throughout Australia, is the day, when the first fleet of Europeans under the leadership of James Cook landed in Sydney Cove Bay. This National Day is celebrated by honoring eminent and successful Australians. Also, the Australian National anthem is sung on this day.
